Sports Dietitian for Gymnasts
I’ve been the gymnast who was always tired and hurt.
Hi, I’m Kerry. I’m a Board-Certified Sports Dietitian and a former high-level competitive gymnast.
As a young gymnast, I loved this sport, trained hard, and had big goals. But I didn’t know how to fuel my body… and it showed.
I felt like I was eating all the time, yet I was constantly exhausted, sore, injured, and thinking about food. By high school, I was held together with tape and braces. In college, injuries limited my training and I eventually medically retired.
Because no one ever taught me how to fuel for gymnastics.
I became a sports dietitian because I saw too many gymnasts struggle in ways that were preventable with the right education and support.
Gymnastics asks a lot of young athletes… physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Most gymnasts are unintentionally underfueled, and over time that shows up as
- Low energy
- Slower progress
- Mental blocks
- Recurring injuries
- Burnout
Food For Fuel exists so gymnasts don’t have to learn the hard way.
I take a real-food, realistic, all-foods-fit approach that works with your real life.
My work is built around a simple, athlete-centered framework I call the TEAM Method: a four-step approach that blends assessment, education, flexibility, and mindset. It ensures fueling strategies actually fit the gymnast, their training demands, and their real life, not a generic meal plan or set of food rules.
I don’t just teach what to eat. I teach gymnasts how to fuel, so they can make confident choices on their own.
I understand the demands of the sport, not just from textbooks, but from lived experience.

My philosophy, built on trust (not fear)
Gymnasts don’t need to diet (or shrink) to perform their best
Coaches deserve credible resources for tricky topics outside their scope
Eating more can actually improve strength, endurance, and recovery
Food should support performance, not cause anxiety
Parents and athletes deserve clear, judgment-free guidance
Carbs (or any food) are not the enemy
My goal is to help gymnasts feel strong, confident, and supported, not controlled by food rules or fear.
A sports dietitian trusted by families, teams & the gymnastics community
My work has been shared through:
- Gymnastics and sports nutrition media outlets (like The SHIFT Show)
- Team workshops and gym partnerships

I’m often brought in because families want:

Let’s fuel smarter, together.
Whether you’re a gymnast, a parent, or a coach, you don’t have to guess anymore.
